Australian born cutting horse trainer, Matt Sargood (seen here with Chuy), has been training cutting horses since 1992. This year, he reached one-million dollars in NCHA earnings and has been recognized as one the top two fastest-rising trainers in the NCHA. At one point, he was Equistat’s the second-highest money-earning riders in California–behind Tim Smith. In 2004, he was a two-time NCHA World Champion on Too Short To Play, a stallion owned by he and his wife, Patty Sargood.
In the 2009 PCCHA Futurity, Matt was a semi-finalist on Wood She Be Trouble by Nitas Wood and a finalist on Lovely Magnificat by High Brow Cat, in the Stakes class. The 2009 PCCHA Golden Hills Auto Center Stakes class paid out over $136,000 to the 17 finalists. Below is Matt Sargood on Wood She Be Trouble.
In 2008, Matt recently moved with his wife Patti and three children from Lodi, California to a beautiful ranch in Millsap, Texas, shown here.
